Computer Application class at Vocational Training Center owned by REDESO in Ngara District.

REDESO owns the Vocational Training Centre in Ngara District of Kagera Region. VTC has 3 Classrooms with the capacity of  25 students, 3 offices, 1 workshop, and 6 toilets (3 toilets for men and 3 for women).

The courses undertaken include: Horticulture, Carpentry and Joinery, Masonry, Hairdressing, tailoring (dress making, batik), Entrepreneurship, Computer Applications (ICT), Electronics (Radio Repair), Bicycle repair, Improved animal Husbandry and Mechanics (additional trade for Ngara station only). At the end of the training, each batch of trainees was to be examined or evaluated, and those who pass their exams be awarded with certificates by VETA. The skills are basic and suitable for both trainees with formal and non-formal education background. The programs offered by the center are divided in two categories namely long term courses and those for short term.

The objectives of the project include:

(i) To create job opportunities to the trainees.

(ii) To reduce poverty by opening a free market in the community and To increase skilled labor force in the community.

Future plans of VTC are:

(i) To become fully registered institute which offer quality Vocational Education and Training that meet labor market needs through effective regulation in collaboration with stakeholders.

(ii)To become an institution that offer an excellent Vocational Education and Training that is capable to promote National social economic well being.
