This project aims at improving livelihood activities of Kishapu and Meatu Districts communities, by strengthening farmers’ institution capacity to organize and take action on influencing change of local and national policies impacting farmers’ realization of profit in sisal and sisal value chain. The project also strengthens the institutional capacity of market associations for both district and national levels to become profitable, well-governed and transparent enterprises. Furthermore, the project enhances the capacity of smallholder farmers to participate in local and national dialogues to strengthen governance and accountability practices in the sisal value chains. In addition, this project supports smallholder farmers to identify and pilot the adoption of innovative farming approaches and new technologies and processes based on the local context for use in primary production and up and downstream economic activities.
